Maswanganyi probe 'very sensitive'
Police are not ruling out the possibility of more arrests in connection with the senior cop’s murder.
JOHANNESBURG - Authorities are not ruling out the possibility of more arrests in connection with senior Gauteng policeman Tirhani Maswanganyi murder, police spokesperson Neville Malila said on Monday.
The major general's body was found dumped and bound near the R101 between Pretoria and Hammanskraal in June.
Four suspects are in police custody following arrests on Thursday and Saturday.
On Monday, two suspects appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court where the case was postponed after investigators requested all suspects appear together.
The four suspects will return to court on Monday to apply for bail.
Malila said the investigation has not been finalised and that the matter is at a "very sensitive stage".
Authorities have not confirmed the motive for the murder.
Maswanganyi's vehicle was abandoned with his police uniform, service pistol and other personal items left in it.
A reward of up to R100,000 was offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.
