JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg Emergency Services say they will intensify its door to door fire awareness campaigns after a man was killed in a shack fire in Soweto on Sunday.

The cause of the blaze is unclear. The man's body was burnt beyond recognition.

Emergency service's Robert Mulaudzi says officials need communities' help to prevent such tragedies.

"We will be able to do that with the assistance of the communities out there. They can assist us by looking after their heating and electric appliances so that we can avoid these devastating fire incidents."
