De Jongh returns for Stormers

The Stormers will look to stop the much-fancied Cheetahs attack.

CAPE TOWN - Stormers assistant coach Rob Fleck says they're hoping the return of Juan de Jongh could spark some magic in the Stormers backline.

De Jongh starts at outside centre against the Cheetahs, in place of an injured Jean de Villiers.

He'll partner up with Damian de Allende in the midfield as they'll hope to blunt the attacking prowess of Cheetahs centre Robert Ebersohn and Johann Sadie.

"It's great to have Juan back. He'll be highly motivated to play well. The last time he played the Cheetahs, he put them under good pressure and scored two wonderful tries," Fleck said.

"His combination with Damien is going to be a nice and physical one. I'm sure he'll be looking to put both Sadie and Ebersohn under a bit of pressure".

The Cheetahs have proven themselves difficult opponents in 2013, heavily outscoring opponents.

This has pushed the men from Bloemfontein to fifth position in the overall log.

They're eight points clear of their nearest rivals, the Sharks on the South African conference log of the Super Rugby.

Barring a major dip in form, they should be the second wildcard team behind the Reds when the play-offs start in July.

One of the reasons for their success is a more astute tactical game, something that Fleck is well aware of.

"The Cheetahs have changed their mindset somewhat. They're a little bit more conservative in their approach.

"They've got a more balanced game. They play a territorial game and once they get into your half, the old traditional Cheetahs style of attacking flair comes into play."

The Cheetahs will be heartened by the performance of their Springboks, who performed well over the international break.

Fullback Willie le Roux produced two stellar performances against Italy and Samoa.

If the Stormers have any chance of neutralising the Cheetahs attack, they'll have to keep their winger in check.
