Petros worried about youths & drugs

Mzwandile Petros says the bust is a direct result of tip offs from the community in Westbury.

JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Police Commissioner Mzwandile Petros says he's concerned about the number of young people being arrested for drug-related activities.

The police raided another drug den in Westbury in western Johannesburg on Wednesday morning and found several young people intoxicated and in possession of drugs.

Petros says the bust is a direct result of tip offs from the community in Westbury.

"It means there's a consumption of drugs across all races and even the youth seems intoxicated which is an indication that the information received from the public is true."

A man, who was searched during the raid, says the youth face constant harassment from police in the area.

"We get searched every day and they never get anything but they continue. We're tired of this."
