Motsoaledi to meet with Obama
The US has been cutting financial support for South Africa's HIV/AIDS programmes over the past five years.
JOHANNESBURG - Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi says he will be meeting with US President Barack Obama this weekend, mainly to discuss HIV/Aids issues.
The US has been cutting financial support for South Africa's HIV/AIDS programmes over the past five years, because of tough economic times.
However, Motsoaledi says South Africa has received R5 billion from the American Aids Funding Plan, PEPFAR, over the past few years and they're not cutting off altogether.
"They're not pulling out to go away, they're in South Africa treating their own citizens and we take responsibility for building capacity and what we're doing is to take over the patients who were on treatment."
