According to reports, in places like Harare voter registration could take hours.
ZIMBABWE - Voter registration is underway in some centres of Harare.
President Robert Mugabe's party is keen for the exercise to end early, to pave the way for polls, which it said on Sunday must take place at the end of next month.
Voter registration could end as early as Thursday if Zimbabwe's highest court upholds the 31 July poll date.
In places like Harare registering to vote can take hours.
Reporter Moses Chibaye of the Private Standard newspaper wrote on Sunday that it took him seven hours to add his name to the list.
Finance Minister Tendai Biti, of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), claims her saw hundreds of very young police recruits being bust into a centre in Harare East, where they had their own special queue.
But the Zanu PF side of the government may argue that police are given preference because they're among essential services.
