Narrow escape after CT train crash

CAPE TOWN - Train services will continue to be affected in Eerste River following an accident between a train and a car this afternoon.

Four people, including a child, made a narrow escape when their car was hit by a train at the Eerste River level crossing.

Witnesses on the scene said the driver attempted to jump the level crossing but then panicked when he saw the train was approaching.

They said the car came to a stop and the occupants jumped out of the vehicle.

The passengers are said to have been slightly injured and are receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

Trains are currently not entering or leaving Eerste River station until the scene has been cleared.
