JOHANNESBURG - Expelled ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema said on Sunday a decision on whether he will launch his own political party should be finalised by next month.

Malema announced his intention to form a breakaway movement earlier this month but said supporters of the Economic Freedom Fighters forum are still torn between contesting next' year's general elections and remaining in the African National Congress (ANC).

He said he's been advised to postpone the establishment of such a movement and allow the ANC to heal itself over the next 20 years.

He however said the decision to launch will depend on the view of his supporters at a broader consultative forum to be held soon.

"All this debate will culminate into a bigger consultative forum where a final decision will be taken. I think by July we will be able to say this is the direction we're taking."
