JHB bikers protest e-tolls
Bikers Against Tolling take part in a mass protest ride against the controversial tolling system.
JOHANNESBURG - Bikers Against Tolling (B.A.T) at the weekend warned government it will embark on a national protest ride if the Gauteng e-tolling system is implemented in the province.
At least 2, 000 bikers took part in a mass protest ride on Saturday morning in Johannesburg and Cape Town highways to oppose the activation of urban tolling.
The B.A.T's James Sleigh said the government is simply using the public to get extra funding.
"This isn't just a political party or Democratic Alliance (DA) on Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) moan. These are people on the street, we're the citizens of the country who ride on these roads and we refuse to pay. If they don't listen we'll do it again."
