Investigations continue after cops discovered 29 kidnapped Mozambican and Zimbabwean nationals.
JOHANNESBURG - Investigations continue after 29 alleged kidnap victims were found in a house in Orange Farm, south of Johannesburg on Saturday.
Ten people have been arrested in connection with their disappearance
Police said on Saturday after investigations they traced 16 women and 13 men aged between 20 and 30 to the house in the early hours of the morning.
The victims are from Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
The police's Katlego Mogale said, "The home affairs and social development departments are assisting the victims. The suspects will be appearing in the Vereeniging Magistrate's Court on Monday."
Police were investigating an alleged kidnapping of a woman and her 16-month-old baby at the Beitbridge Border after her husband alerted police that his wife was held against her will by a group of people.
Mogale said, "The group had told the husband that they were in Soweto and that he must deposit money for the safe return of his wife."
Nine men and a woman were arrested and two minibus taxis were also confiscated.
She said police are not ruling out the possibility of human trafficking.
