Murdered Cape doctor remembered
Mourners have shared fond memories of the late Doctor Louis Heyns.
CAPE TOWN - Murdered Cape Town doctor Louis Heyns is being laid to rest in Tygerberg this afternoon.
The 59-year-old paediatric specialist's body was found buried in a shallow grave in Strand last week after he was reported missing nearly two weeks ago.
Family and friends of the late Stellenbosch professor packed into the church where a memorial service was held on Friday morning. Dozens of Heyns's colleagues and students from Tygerberg Hospital and Stellenbosch University arrived to pay their respects.
They spoke very fondly of Heyns as they offered condolences to his family.
The memorial service was due to be followed by a private cremation later.
Meanwhile, three Malmesbury suspects have been arrested in connection with the doctor's murder.
They will appear in the Somerset Magistrates Court for a bail application on Monday.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has indicated it will oppose bail.
