Igesund: Bafana must win
Gordon Igesund said Bafana have what it takes to secure qualification for the World Cup.
JOHANNESBURG - Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund said losing is not an option for his side when they play in their two crucial World Cup qualifiers.
Bafana will travel to Yaoundé, Cameroon on Wednesday where they will face Central African Republic on Saturday before they take on Ethiopia in Addis Ababa in a week's time.
Igesund said Bafana have what it takes to secure the qualification.
"It's a must win situation and I think we are capable and the guys are excited. They know what to do and we are getting great support from the country and everything's in our favour, we just have to go out there and win."
Meanwhile, Bafana goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune was given the captain's armband on a permanent basis.
Igesund said the Kaizer Chiefs skipper is the best man for the job.
"I'm very happy with his attitude, I spoke to him. I don't want him to just be a captain. I want him to be a great captain."
Igesund said he asked Khune to work on his temper in order to be a good example to his teammates.
"To be a great captain you have to calm down in certain situations. Sometimes he loses it and I've spoken to him about that. I told him that there are hundreds of captains, but I want him to be a great captain. There are only a few of those."
