Khune wins big at PSL awards
Together with his awards, Khune also took home R575,000 in prize money.
JOHANNESBURG - Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune was the man of the year at the Premier Soccer League (PSL) end-of-season awards.
He followed up his sides' league and cup double by scooping a total of four awards at a glitzy ceremony at Gold Reef City on Sunday night.
The goalkeeper walked away with the Footballer of the Season, Players' Player of the Season, Goalkeeper of the Season and Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament awards.
His coach Stuart Baxter took the Coach of the Season accolade.
Ronwen Williams was voted Young Player of the Season while Katlego Mashego took the Golden Boot and the Goal of the Season award went to Mor Diouf.
Khune said he was elated that his hard was finally acknowledged.
"To be recognised as the best player in the PSL at last. I was also surprised that I walked away with the Footballer of the Year. What surprised me was throughout the season I never won the man of the match."
Stuart Baxter, who won the coach of the season award, said he was not surprised at what the goalkeeper has achieved.
"His recognition of a job well done all year, the face of South African football at the moment."
Together with the trophies, Khune took home R575,000 in prize money.
PSL Acting CEO, Cambridge Mokanyane said, "I would like to congratulate all the individuals who won this season especially Itumeleng Khune who has been truly outstanding this season. This is an epic way to finish what has been a successful 2012/13 season."

Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament - Dikwena's Tshepo Gumede.
Telkom Knockout Player of the Tournament award - Joel Mogorosi.
MTN8 Last Man Standing - Lerato Chabangu.
Referee of the Season - Victor Gomes.
