Police make arrest in kidnapping case
The mother of the kidnapped teenager had paid a ransom for the safe return of her daughter.
JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng police said on Sunday, they had arrested a man linked to the murder of 19-year-old Philasande Ngum.
The teenager was kidnapped from a Midrand Mall three weeks ago.
Her mother paid a ransom for her safe return but her decomposing body was found this week in an open field.
"A 29-year-old man has been arrested for possession of stolen property," said the police's Lungelo Dlamini.
"He was also found in possession of her cellphone."
