NSRI warns fishermen
The warning comes as bad weather continues to affect parts of the Cape.
CAPE TOWN - The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) on Saturday appealed to fishermen to check all safety equipment before going out to sea.
The advice comes as bad weather continues to affect parts of the Cape.
Earlier this week, rescue teams managed to save three Hout Bay fishermen after their boat got lost near Cape Point in dense fog.
It is understood the men ran out of fuel and landed into difficulty while at sea.
The NSRI's Craig Lambinon said, "We are urging boaters, especially along the West Coast, to carry a GPS with them. During winter months, dense fog is quite common."
He also called on fishermen to check weather forecasts before launching their boats.
