Carl Pistorius: Culpable homicide charge dropped
Pistorius now faces a charge of reckless driving at the Vanderbijlpark Magistrates Court.
JOHANNESBURG - The culpable homicide charge against Carl Pistorius was dropped on Tuesday.
Pistorius was involved in an accident in 2008 in which motorcyclist, Marietjie Barnard died.
However, he still faces charges of reckless and inconsiderate driving.
State prosecutor Johan Venter told the court there was no way to prove Barnard died in hospital as a result of the injuries she sustained in the accident.
Venter then announced that the state was no longer planning to maintain the charge of culpable homicide against Pistorius.
He still faces two charges of reckless driving and inconsiderate driving, but his lawyer Kenny Oldwage is arguing for those charges to be dropped as well.
The defence team spent the morning ripping into the testimony of state witness constable Robert Ropadu, who attended to the accident scene in 2008.
The case continues.
