Stadium heist: 10 suspects listed
Several pieces of key evidence have resulted in police closing in on suspects involved.
JOHANNESBURG - Stadium Management South Africa (SMSA) said on Sunday the list of suspects linked to last week's FNB Stadium heist had been narrowed down to 10.
Authorities had been analysing several pieces of key evidence in a bid to locate the missing millions stolen from the stadium following the Justin Bieber and Bon Jovi Concerts.
Eyewitness News first broke the story last Monday of how thieves chiseled away at a wall and used ropes and ladders to gain access to a strongroom.
It was suspected that it may have been an inside job, but thus far no arrests have been made.
SMSA CEO Jacques Grobelaar said all leads were being followed up closely to crack the case.
"Mysteries analysis and additional interviews were done and information which came out of CCTV footage as well as access system control was scrutinised."
Security firms and private investigators last Tuesday followed up credible leads in an attempt to crack the mystery of the sophisticated heist.
An individual close to the investigation described the leads as 'hot' and was hopeful it would result in arrests.
The details of the lead could not be made public due to the sensitivity of the case.
