JOHANNESBURG - Women and Men Against Child Abuse was outraged after a baby was found in a fridge in Daveyton, east of Johannesburg, with her umbilical cord still attached last week.

It was understood residents heard the baby crying during the early hours of Saturday morning and went to investigate.

They found the baby and alerted police.

The little girl was kept at a place of safety.

Meanwhile, Pretoria police appealed to the public to come forward with any information after a baby was found in a black plastic bag in the city centre on Tuesday.

Municipal workers made the grim discovery and alerted officers.

Police spokesperson Agnes Huma said they were still searching for the baby's parents.

"We are opening a case of concealment of birth. Anyone with information can call 012 353 4481."
