JOHANNESBURG - Former African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) secretary-general Sindiso Magaqa told Eyewitness News on Monday that his membership of the ANC has now been reinstated after serving his year-long suspension.

It is reported that Magaqa and ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe met last week to discuss the former's role in the league after his suspension lapsed in April.

Magaqa was suspended and former league leader Julius Malema was expelled after both were accused of bringing the ANC into disrepute.

However, Magaqa continues to be close to Malema.

Many in the ANC could be forced to exclude him from serious role playing in the party should this relationship continue.

It is reported that Magaqa even attended numerous gatherings in which Malema launched scathing and often embarrassing verbal attacks against the ANC, and more especially against President Jacob Zuma.

Magaqa said "My membership was suspended, but immediately after the suspension lapsed it was automatically activated. I'm just cooling down. I'll wait to see what happens in the movement."

Meanwhile, former ANC spokesperson Floyd Shivambu still has two more years until his suspension is lifted.
