Majavu shocked by ASA's finances
ASA administrator Zola Majavu is shocked at how cash-strapped the association is.
JOHANNESBURG - Athletics South Africa (ASA) administrator Zola Majavu on Friday said he was shocked to find out just how cash-strapped the association was.
ASA was recently put under administration by governing body South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc).
This was after internal power struggles and maladministration began to tear the athletics body apart.
Majavu said he had come to realise how severe their problem was.
"I have had access to the main banking account. I have to use my discretion and see what is available in the kit and also try to balance it against our other obligations."
Majavu said clearing the organisation's debts was one of his major priorities.
However the administrator was selective about how ASA would spend its remaining funds.
