JOHANNESBURG - The South African National Defence Force has sent its condolences to the family of a soldier who was wounded in the Central African Republic (CAR) and died earlier this week.

On Tuesday, Eyewitness News revealed the death toll from a battle against rebels in the CAR more than a month ago, has now risen to 14.

The soldier who died was one of 27 who were wounded and evacuated.

He was discharged from One Military Hospital almost two weeks ago, but collapsed at his home in Bloemfontein on Monday.
