CAPE TOWN - Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu was discharged from a Cape Town hospital on Monday.

Last week, he checked into hospital to be treated for a persistent infection.

A statement released on Wednesday said tests would be conducted to find the underlying cause of the infection.

Doctors unearthed no new malignancy.

The archbishop will continue to be treated for prostate cancer.

Tutu will be spending some quiet time at his Cape Town home to "recover his sparkle".
