School teacher honours Tutu
A primary school teacher dedicated the day to teaching her pupils about the archbishop.
JOHANNESBURG - A primary school teacher on Friday said she dedicated the day to Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu by teaching her pupils about his contribution to South Africa's liberation struggle.
Tutu is spending this weekend in a Cape Town hospital where he is receiving treatment for a persistent infection.
He is expected to spend five days receiving treatment and undergoing tests.
The grade six Bryanston Primary School teacher said without freedom fighters like Tutu, South Africa would not be celebrating Freedom Day on Saturday.
"We just want you [Tutu] to know that you are being honoured on this day and we love you. Please get well soon."
She said she wants her pupils to know more about the man with the "unmistakable laugh".
Tutu was apparently in good spirits as he checked into hospital.
There have been no further updates about his treatment.
