CAPE TOWN - The two men accused of the raping, mutilating and murdering Bredasdorp teenager Anene Booysen are due to appear in the local magistrate's court on Monday.

Jonathan Davids (22) who was denied bail following a previous court appearance, and his co-accused Johannes Kana (21), were arrested in connection with the savage attack in February.

The 17-year-old teen was raped, mutilated and left for dead.

Security guards at a nearby building site discovered her battered body and called for help.

Booysen named one of her attackers before she passed away in hospital.

Lawyer for both the accused, Pieter du Toit said, "Hopefully we'll get the results of forensic testing and we can decide whether we're going to do another bail application or not, based on new evidence. But it will just be on Mr Davids, it will not be on Mr Kana at this stage."

"Whether we're going to do a new bail application hangs on the forensic evidence but not the trial itself. Whatever the evidence is that comes out will influence how we tackle the trial."
