JOHANNESBURG - Queues are growing at schools across Gauteng on Wednesday as parents try to secure limited placement for their children.

Many have been waiting outside schools for days while some have waiting since the weekend.

The Gauteng Education Department is hoping to have a smooth start to its 2014 school admission process.

Queues started to form at some schools including Parkview Primary and Fourways High School from Sunday.

The department's Charles Pahlane said parents should make use of this opportunity to book a place for their children.

He said application forms have been available since last week at all public schools.

"It's all systems go and we have encouraged parents to submit their applications. We've asked them to go and pick up forms since last week so that they have all the documentation they need for the start of the admission campaign."
