JOHANNESBURG - Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula on Friday said he wanted to make it very clear that rules and regulations applied to everyone and no single sports body was above the law.

The South African Football Association (Safa)'s CEO Dennis Mumble wrote a scathing letter to the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc) CEO Tubby Reddy, calling for him to be removed from his post with immediate effect.

Speaking at Sascoc House, Mbalula was adamant South Africa's sporting affiliates would not be allowed to run riots on his watch.

Tensions are running high between Safa and Sascoc after Mumble told Eyewitness News that Reddy did not deserve his position as CEO.

Mbalula said everyone needs to follow protocols.

"You can't tell the small federations what needs to be done, while as a bigger federation you're dilly-dallying about what needs to be done. Let's have a law which applies to everybody."

The two will have a chance to work at their differences when their organisations meet on Saturday at Sascoc's general meeting.
