JOHANNESBURG - There is a heavy police presence at Freedom Park, south of Johannesburg, on Thursday afternoon following a violent service delivery protest near the Golden Highway.
Officials said more than 100 community members took to the streets this morning barricading roads, stoning vehicles and burning tyres.
Police moved in and managed to disperse the crowd.
The police's Katlego Mogale said, "The police were called to the scene as well as emergency services of Johannesburg, who extinguished the fires. Police are still keeping an eye on the situation. Nobody has been arrested yet."
