ANC appoints Youth League task team
ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe said the task team must root out bad practices.
JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) on Wednesday said its new 22 member task team that will run the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) will have to prepare the organisation for new leaders.
The mother body also called on the task team to root out bad practices.
The ANCYL's National Executive Committee was disbanded by the ANC in March amid claims it could no longer run itself.
ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe said the task team would have to audit the League's structures.
"The verification of membership will also ensure that we deal with the culture that has crept into the movement of bulk-buying membership in preparation of conferences to increase the chances of individual to win elections."
Mzwandile Masina will be the team's convenor, while Magasela Mzobe will be the coordinator.
Radio host Shaka Sisulu is also on the team.
