JOHANNESBURG - The family of rape and murder victim Thandeka Madonsela will bury her on Saturday, following an emotional memorial earlier this week.

Madonsela was left for dead in a veld behind the N1 Highway in Naturena, two weeks ago.

Two teenagers allegedly responsible for mutilating, raping and murdering her have been arrested.

Her uncle, Ronnie Madonsela says the family is trying to pick up the pieces.

"She was very dedicated at schools and she loved her granny. The whole family is devastated and she will be solely missed."

Meanwhile, several women and children have been raped and murdered in South Africa since the beginning of 2013.

According to statistics, a person is raped every four minutes in South Africa.

The government and non-governmental organisations have since launched campaigns to fight rape.
