'Madiba making progress'
The Presidency says former President Nelson Mandela’s health is improving in hospital.
JOHANNESBURG - The Presidency on Wednesday released another update on the health of former President Nelson Mandela, who is spending his seventh day at a Pretoria hospital.
Mandela was admitted to hospital for a recurring lung infection and has been treated for pneumonia.
The Presidency said his health is improving and he is now much better than he was when he was admitted.
It said he has been receiving visitors and is making steady progress.
Meanwhile, messages of support continue to pour in from across the globe for the 94-year-old.
Earlier in March, Madiba was admitted to a Pretoria hospital for a scheduled check-up.
He was discharged the following day.
In December, the former statesman was admitted to a Pretoria hospital where he stayed for almost three weeks.
He was treated for the same recurring lung infection and also had a procedure to remove gallstones.
