Motorist killed in CT car crash
A man has died in a car accident in the Bloubergstrand area.
CAPE TOWN - A man was killed in a car accident in the Bloubergstrand area on Good Friday.
ER24 says the 30- year-old man lost control of his vehicle.
A female passenger was also seriously injured.
Meanwhile, Western Cape transport authorities have confirmed an unroadworthy private charter bus has been impounded on the N2 near Sir Lowry's Pass.
The vehicle which was transporting a group of rugby players en route to Swellendam was pulled over in the early hours of Friday morning.
Officials also found the driver was not in possession of a valid driver's license.
Provincial Traffic Chief Kenny Africa says, "Our officers stopped the bus in Sir Lowry's Pass and discontinued the use of the bus because it was totally unroadworthy.
Earlier in March, 24 people died when the bus they were traveling veered off the road and crashed in the Hex River Valley pass near De Doorns.
The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) say a total of 162 drunk drivers have been arrested in nine road blocks ahead of the long weekend.
JMPD's Wayne Minnaar says they will all be spending Easter in jail.
Traffic authorities are out in full force throughout the country in an effort to prevent road deaths this Easter.
