Seven people arrested in heroin bust
The Hawks say they are monitoring drug syndicates and are hoping to make more arrests.
JOHANNESBURG - The Hawks have arrested seven men for being in possession of almost R2 million worth of heroin.
The men were apprehended early on Wednesday morning at a townhouse in Randpark Ridge, north of Johannesburg.
Hawks spokesperson Paul Ramaloko said, "We have been monitoring the syndicate for some time and we are hoping to make more arrests."
He said the suspects will appear in court soon.
They are expected to be charged with being in possession of and dealing in drugs.
In a separate operation, the Hawks also arrested 27 illegal miners.
