CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Social Development will spend most of its budget on helping the provinces most vulnerable, MEC Albert Fritz said on Tuesday while delivering the budget vote for his department.

Fritz has given non-government organisations (NGOs) who provide welfare services on the province almost R900 million.

He promised organisations that almost folded due to a lack of funding they would be kept afloat.

"NGOs such a Rape Crisis and Saartjie Baartman, which are run by ordinary people are getting a massive amount of money."

Fritz also spread funds to organisations that assist people with disabilities, victims of violence, the elderly and substance abusers.
