CT pupil stabbed at school
A grade nine pupil has been hospitalised after he was stabbed by fellow pupils.
CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Education Department on Tuesday said several learners were taken into custody in connection with a stabbing at a Khayelitsha school on Monday.
A grade nine Oscar Mpetha High School learner was stabbed twice in the stomach and sustained cuts on his head.
Education spokesperson Bronagh Casey said the pupil was hospitalised.
Officials are investigating the incident.
"Two other learners were implicated in the stabbing following an incident which happened in the community that weekend."
Casey said four other learners allegedly involved in the stabbing are also connected to another stabbing incident in Khayelitsha this weekend.
"Police are now investigating the incident."
Last week, an 18-year-old pupil was stabbed to death on a school bus in Cape Town.
The victim was stabbed in the heart with scissors.
