Protestors set Putco buses alight
Police are keeping a close eye on Enkangala protesters after their allegedly set buses alight.
JOHANNESBURG - Police are closely monitoring protestors in Enkangala, near Bronkhorspruit, north of Pretoria, after they set two Putco Buses alight.
It is believed a crowd of about 500 people blocked the road on Wednesday night and forced passengers off the buses.
They are angry about high electricity costs in the township.
The police's Isaac Mahamba says, "We've been told that they are complaining about electricity prices."
Meanwhile, violence has marred service delivery protests throughout the country.
In January, Sasolburg residents took to the streets over a proposal to merge their area into the Ngwathe Local Municipality,
Protesters torched municipal property and looted shops.
The government has warned that it will deal harshly with all those who destroy property during protests.
