CAPE TOWN - Members of the 12 Apostles Church in Christ on Sunday paid tribute to friends and family who died in the Hex River Valley bus crash.
24 members of the congregation died when the bus they were travelling in veered off the road into the Hex River Pass near De Doorns on Friday.
Singing the well-known hymn, Rock of Ages, members of the Khayelitsha church remembered the deceased congregation members.
They listened attentively as church leader Dumisani Ximbi told them their loved ones were in a better place.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday while prayer meetings will be conducted during the course of the week.
No funeral plans have been confirmed, as some of the families will only be able to identify the victims on Monday.
Calls were also made at the church service for donations for funeral funds.
The African National Congress’ (ANC) Xolani Sotashe said the party has pledged R25,000 towards the fund.
