Vasco looking for upset against Supersport
Underdogs Vasco da Gama will be looking to catch Matsatsantsa napping
CAPE TOWN - Vasco da Gama vice-captain Angelo Julius says his team can cause an upset against Supersport United.
The first division side face defending champions Supersport United in the Nedbank Cup at Athlone stadium on Wednesday.
Julius says they know it won't be easy but anything is possible.
"They're still a strong outfit and even their second stringers are strong enough to play in any PSL team, so that has got to be a concern for us".
Supersport United does not expect Vasco Da Gama to be a walk over despite being a second-tier side.
Supersport's captain Thabo September says despite their relegation from the Premier soccer league last season, Vasco are still a strong side.
"Cape Town is never easy so we know how difficult the game is going to be, and how difficult the conditions are. We need to go out there and put in a worthy effort if we want to progress".
Supersport come off the back of a 1-0 win over Tshwane rivals Mamelodi Sundowns but September says his side cannot afford to be complacent.
"They [Vasco] just came off two consecutive wins and they're on a high now which is a good time to play them. They've got the experience so it should be a good game".
Julius is confident in his side and says they will approach the contest like any other game.
"It's another game that we have to win and that's the mentality at Vasco da Gama. Any game anytime, anywhere, we want to win".
"Whether it's Supersport, Kaizer Chiers of a Vodacom team, the result is the same, Vasco wants to win".
The match kicks off on Wednesday at 7:30pm.
