CAPE TOWN - Police and community members in Mitchells Plain are planning to oppose bail for a man who allegedly kidnapped a five-year-old girl.

The 45-year-old suspect is set to appear in court on Monday morning.

He was arrested on Friday after little Zeta Adams was found inside his home.

It is believed she may have been sexually assaulted.

The Mitchells Plain Police's acting cluster commander Johan Brandt said the community will support them in trying to keep the alleged kidnapper in custody.

"The practice that we use in Mitchells Plain is that the community also assists us in opposing bail. This [receiving bail] is also a threat to society."

Brandt has also revealed police are investigating whether the suspect could be linked to the disappearance of five-year-old Kauthar Bobbs, who went missing in October last year.

Meanwhile, a five-year-old Gugulethu girl has been reunited with her mother after she went missing on Friday night.
