SAA crew member nabbed with drugs
An SAA crew member will appear in court after being caught with 2kg of cocaine.
JOHANNESBURG - The Hawks have confirmed that a South African Airways crew member who's been arrested for smuggling drugs into the country is part of an alleged drug syndicate.
The 34-year-old flight attendant was arrested at OR Tambo International airport on Friday when her flight arrived from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
She was found in possession of two kilograms of cocaine with an estimated value of R300,000.
The Hawks Paul Ramaloko said, "She is now facing charges of dealing in drugs and will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrates Court on Monday."
Meanwhile, police also seized over 600 kilograms of heroin believed to be destined for South Africa in what has been labelled one of the biggest drug busts in Mozambique.
Two Guinean nationals were arrested after they told police the narcotics were fertilizer being transported from Kenya.
The two men then tried to bribe authorities with thousands of US dollars, but were handcuffed instead.
