There's space for new airline - expert
An aviation expert says there is space for a new airline in South Africa.
CAPE TOWN - The editor of African Pilot Magazine on Thursday said the team heading up South Africa's newest low cost airline has a good understanding of the dynamics of the business.
Skywise has been given an air service licence, moving it a step closer to flying low-cost domestic services later in 2012.
The team behind Skywise previously launched 1time which stopped operating in November.
Aviation expert Athol Franz says there is space in the market for a new carrier.
"There's space for a very well packaged airline and if it's well managed, which I believe they do have the expertise to do so, it will find a proper place in this competitive market."
1time filed for liquidation in November.
This came shortly after the liquidation of Velvet Sky, which dealt a huge blow to consumers.
