CAPE TOWN - Proteas left-arm seamer Wayne Parnell is reportedly being sought by Indian police on drugs charges.

He was detained in Mumbai last year following a police raid at a party.

Parnell was playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Pune Warriors at the time.

Speaking to EWN Sport, Cricket South Africa's Michael Owen-Smith said they are still in the dark about the matter.

"All we know so far is what we've read in the media. We've had no formal communication from the Indian Premier League, the Board of Control for Cricket in India or any other authority in India."

According to reports, Parnell and Indian cricketer Rahul Sharma were among party-goers who underwent medical examinations after the raid which found drugs including cannabis and cocaine.
