JOHANNESBURG - South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) deputy chairperson Thami Ka Plaatjie on Monday confirmed that he withdrew his letter to the Communications Ministry on Chief Operating Officer (COO) Hlaudi Motsoeneng's removal from his post.

It now appears that Motsoeneng has been reinstated for the moment.

SABC board chairperson Ben Ngubane refused to be interviewed on the issue, referring requests to ka Plaatjie.

Ka Plaatjie first asked for questions to be directed to SABC spokesperson Kaiser Kanyago.

Kganyago did not respond to requests for comment.

But ka Plaatjie then confirmed that he was withdrawing his letter to the Communications Ministry.

There is still no official confirmation that Motsoneng has legally been reinstated.
