'US has done worse things in Iraq'
Robert Mugabe says the US has done worst things than what his opposition is accusing him of.
ZIMBABWE - President Robert Mugabe has denied claims that his Zanu-PF party has embarked on a campaign of violence ahead of next month's constitutional referendum and elections in July.
Mugabe's opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) and rights groups have pointed a finger at Zanu-PF, blaming the party for torching the hut of an opposition activist last week in which a 12-year old boy was killed.
Mugabe told supporters at his birthday party that even if somebody is killed by a cow the opposition blames it on Zanu-PF.
He said the MDC is spreading false words about the situation in Zimbabwe and twisting facts surrounding the death of Christpower Maisiri.
Zanu-PF was particularly angered by a statement from the US Embassy in Harare which has called for a swift and professional investigation into the incident.
Mugabe said the US has done worse things in Iraq and vowed his party would win the elections in July.
