Neighbours baffled at Fourways murder-suicide
Rivendale residents in Fourways are shocked after a mother poisoned her sons and killed herself.
JOHANNESBURG - Residents at the Rivendale complex in Fourways were on Monday still baffled, after one of their neighbours allegedly poisoned her two children before killing herself.
The bodies of Anusha Mooljee and her sons, aged 12 and 17, were discovered by the children's father on Sunday.
Eyewitness News has learnt Mooljee was the cousin of Desmond Nair, the magistrate who presided over athlete Oscar Pistorius' bail application.
Mooljee's neighbours said they were still haunted by the cries of her ex-husband, who discovered the three bodies on Sunday night.
Mooljee is believed to have given her children an unknown substance before consuming it herself.
Claire Osment, who lives a few units away, said she heard screams coming from the townhouse and rushed outside.
"We asked what happened. The dad just said 'she has killed my boys'. He was just crying.
"He couldn't believe it, he couldn't believe that his sons are gone."
Osment said she watched police remove the bodies of her neighbours from their home.
She described the 12-year old boy, who used to play with her own son, as a bright, sweet young man.
"He was such a nice boy, oh my word! I can't even believe it. When I heard the news, I just couldn't hold my tears."
Mooljee's eldest son was in matric at Fourways High School.
Nair was unavailable for comment yesterday afternoon.
Meanwhile, police are conducting toxicology tests to determine what the family overdosed on.
