Jo’burg transport MMC praised for her work
Rehana Moosajee, who resigned, has been praised for Jo’burg’s efficient transport system.
JOHANNESBURG - The mayoral committee member for transport in Johannesburg, Rehana Moosajee, has been praised for creating a viable transport system in the city.
Moosajee handed her resignation to Mayor Parks Tau last week, citing personal reasons.
Her resignation was made public on Sunday.
She was elected to serve as the transport MMC when the post was first created in 2006.
Johannesburg ANC spokesman Jolidee Matongo on Monday said she would be missed.
He said many members of the regional executive committee were disappointed she had to leave, but were grateful to her for what they say was a job well done on the Rea Vaya Bus Rapid Transit System.
Former Community Development MMC Christine Walters will take over from Moosajee.
Walters has also worked in the portfolio of infrastructure and services.
