JOHANNESBURG - The producers of reality television show Tropika Island of Treasure have promised the family of dead Reeva Steenkamp that the programme will ensure she is remembered for the "happy" person she was.

The show will air on SABC 1 on Saturday night and producers say they will have a tribute to Steenkamp, who was killed at Oscar Pistorius's Pretoria East home on Thursday.

Tropika Island of Treasure producer Samantha Moon said viewers will get to see a "happy, healthy, beautiful, vibrant Reeva".

She said it was important Steenkamp was not remembered merely as a statistic.

Meanwhile, Pistoriuss' family has appealed for the police to be allowed to investigate the case without interference, and have denied in the "strongest terms" allegations that he murdered his girlfriend.

The world famous Paralympian appeared in a Pretoria court yesterday, where prosecutors made it clear they had set out to prove the murder was premeditated.

After a day and a half of silence, Pistorius's family and management company issued a statement to media around the globe.

In the statement, Pistorius extended his deepest sympathies to Steenkamp.

He described the shooting as a "terrible, terrible tragedy", and said thoughts and prayers must go to Steenkamp and those close to her.

The statement says the court process must also be allowed to run its course and limits the amount of information the family can distribute.

Meanwhile, police returned to the crime scene yesterday to study blood spatter patterns and to gather more forensic evidence ahead of Pistorius's bail application on Tuesday.

Although not confirmed by police, it is reported Steenkamp was shot four times through a bathroom door.
