City of CT wants to host Liverpool
Cape Town bosses are trying to bring Liverpool to the city during the EPL off season.
CAPE TOWN - A City of Cape Town delegation is visiting several soccer clubs in England in the hopes of luring them to the Mother City during their off season.
In 2012, Manchester United toured South Africa and playing in both Durban and Cape Town.
The delegation is in talks with Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and five-time European champions Liverpool, to get them to play at Cape Town Stadium.
The city's Grant Pascoe says the city is not prepared to break the bank to bring those sides to South Africa.
"We want to build on the strategy of getting the best teams, but we are also looking at what we can afford."
Pascoe says they are hoping to land a deal with Liverpool.
"We would love to see them in Cape Town. However, that will be an ongoing conversation. We'll have to sort out the details and see whether it works for us."
