ANC worried about Cederberg Municipality
The ANC will support the public protector’s probe into the Cederberg Municipality.
CAPE TOWN - The ANC in the Western Cape says it has been concerned about the Cederberg Municipality for months now.
The Public Protector's office told Eyewitness News it will be investigating fraud and corruption allegations levelled against the ANC-led council.
This comes as the auditor general is set to release a report this week on the municipality's finances.
ANC provincial chairperson Marius Fransman said, "There have been several issues including allegations of harassment and the appointment of companies without following proper procedure."
Meanwhile, the South African Local Government Association (Salga) has welcomed the public protector's investigation.
The probe will look into two complaints.
One of the issues relates to alleged corruption within the Clanwilliam Traffic Department.
