DURBAN - Four people are missing after a severe thunderstorm in the Msinga area, north of KwaZulu-Natal.

A number of houses were also flooded when the Thukela River burst its banks on Monday night.

Disaster management teams have been dispatched to the area to help search for the missing.

STORMS AROUND THE COUNTRY

Meanwhile, storms have also caused damaged in the Eastern Cape, where a 17-year-old boy was killed by a lightning strike on Monday.

In Johannesburg last Monday, flooding occurred in large parts of the CBD and surrounding areas.

Water blocked all major routes in and out of the city centre.

A woman, who was driving in Newtown, said the water rose fast.

"There's a dip at Miriam Makeba Road and the water has risen as high as my window. My car could go through the water, but other people's cars are getting stuck and people are making U-turns there, which is causing havoc."
