JOHANNESBURG - There are fresh reports which suggest the Department of Education failed to deliver textbooks to 56 Limpopo schools for the 2013 academic year.

The Democratic Alliance's Mmusi Maimane said some schools in the province have still not received any textbooks.

"We have evidence from 56 schools who said they have not received any textbooks."

Meanwhile the Department of Education denied allegations of textbooks not being delivered to all schools in the province.

The Department's Panyaza Lesufi said they have proof that textbooks were delivered in the province.

"On Monday we will have a press conference with the principals of those 56 schools to prove we delivered textbooks to them.

"We asking the DA to shut up or withdraw their claims."

Thousands of Limpopo learners were without textbooks for the greater part of 2012 when education authorities failed to ensure that learning materials were available to pupils in the area.
